What we collect, why, and what we don’t do with it.
Last updated November 5, 2026
This website is run by Honor Coding LLC dba Alaska Towns (“we”). This page explains what information the site collects and how it is used. If you have questions, email info@alaskatowns.com or use our contact form.
The short version
- Visitors don’t need an account, and we don’t ask for your name to use the site.
- We count visits and taps so businesses can see whether their listing works. Those counts don’t include your name or your IP address.
- We never sell personal information.
- Businesses that sign up give us their contact details so we can run their listing, and pay through Stripe, which handles card details.

Visit and tap counts
When you view a business page, see a business in a list, or tap a business’s phone number, website, email or directions link, the site records a count. Each count notes the business, the town, the date, the kind of page, the kind of device (phone, tablet or computer), and where your visit started: a search engine, social media, an email, an ad, another website, or typed in directly, including any campaign tags on the link you followed. It does not record your name, your IP address or anything that identifies you. To avoid counting the same tap twice, and to filter out automated traffic, the site keeps a scrambled, one-way code for up to an hour and then throws it away.
Detailed counts are kept for about 13 months and then reduced to daily totals. Businesses see these numbers as totals and charts for their own listing.
Your browser
To remember where your visit started while you move between pages, the site keeps that one detail in your browser’s session storage, which your browser clears when you close the tab. The site itself does not set advertising or tracking cookies. Business owners who sign in get a login cookie so they stay signed in.
Google Analytics and ads
We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used as a whole, and may show Google AdSense ads in open ad spots. When you tap a business’s phone number, website, email or directions link, that tap (which business, which kind of link and which town) is also sent to Google Analytics. These Google services use cookies and similar technology, and Google processes that information under its own policy. You can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services, opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on, and manage ad personalization in Google’s ad settings.
Maps
Maps on the site load map images from a map tile service, so your browser connects to that service to show them. Business addresses are turned into map pins on our server; that doesn’t involve any information about you.
Contact form
Messages sent through the contact form, with the name and email address you give (and your phone number, if you choose to add it), are emailed to us and saved on the website so we can reply. We delete them when they’re no longer needed, or sooner if you ask.
Businesses
When you list or claim a business, we collect what you give us: your name, email and phone, and your business’s details, photos and description. We use it to publish and manage your listing, to send you sign-in links, approvals and reports, and, if you choose, news about offers. You can turn optional emails off any time from your account.
Payments are handled by Stripe. We don’t see or store your full card number; Stripe does, under its privacy policy. We keep a record of what was paid and when.
If you ask us to close your account, we’ll delete your personal details and take down or hand over your listing. We keep payment records as long as the law requires.
Who else sees information
We share information only with the services that run the site for us: our web host, our email provider, Stripe for payments, and Google for analytics and ads. We may also share information if the law requires it. We don’t sell or rent personal information to anyone.
Children
The site is meant for adults planning trips and running businesses. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Your choices
You can ask what personal information we have about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it by emailing info@alaskatowns.com. Business owners can change most details themselves after signing in.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. Big changes that affect business accounts will be emailed to account holders.
